Hi,

What is that black thing? Got a leak from that, is there a write up on how to remove/fix? Is it doable without removing the inlet?

M10 engine, 318i. It's not the oil filter. It's the black thing in the below image which is right under the inlet manifold.
There was meant to be a photo attached to original message.

Is it the throttle position switch? And would that leak oil? It's pretty much covered in it and doesn't seem like anything above it is leaking onto it.

Yes, it looks like the TPS, that's where mine is on my 318i.

I took it off and put it on some kitchen paper over night to let it all drain out.

(Some people on here say to drill a small hole in it so it sorts itself out.)

There is a breather hose from the top of the rocker cover into the throttle body and I think the oil comes in from there over time.

I am wondering if this jet (part number 11121250937 see realoem.com) missing from my breather pipe is meant to limit the amount of oil getting to the throttle body and so to the TPS. Can anyone on here enlighten us?

How does it drive? Idle, small throttle, wide open throttle?

Good luck sorting it...

I have lpg and its in the way for me. So, I had to remove the airbox to get access to take off the throttle body (4 nuts) and unplug the wire to the TPS at the back. There are only 2 screws holding the TPS on.

Definately a job that gets quicker the more times you do it... :)
