Anyone got any info on fitting a 6spd box to the m52b28 and whats involved? I keep wishing I had a 6th gear in the daily and think it would be nice in the touring also.

you'll want an S50 one, it will bolt straight up, you can use a 328i clutch flywheel setup or an S50 one, both work.

They're a fair bit bigger than a 5spd box and heavier, you'll need to shorten your prop and i don't know on gear linkage, it can fit as there are S50 cars with 6 speeds been done

I can't imagine those are an easy box to get a hold of, haven't seen many m3's being broken lately (in Ireland anyway).

I've read a bit about e46 320 6spd being possible and newer car with 6spd but I can't just find anything concrete regarding clutch and flywheel.

I already have an m20 lightened flywheel and clutch ready to go but have always wondered about fitting a 6spd instead. I'm not building an out and out racer, more a cruiser with an m52 to make it fast

I know someone that did a six speed and had to weld on new brackets to the body to make it fit.

Not sure and can't remember, if it was a S50 6box or e46. But the engine was a S50

I ran a 6speed box on my S54 E30, the gear linkage i used was a bit of a mix & match and shortened to size but worked perfectly. There are also custom off the shelf gearbox mounts that bolt straight up, ( just google & choose what you prefer) or make your own. Here's mine, direct bolt on.

I've read about the m3 box fitting, another I've seen mentioned is the gs6-37bz from the 330 e46. Km not sure what is involved in fitting this or cost associated with the swap.

I imagine the m3 box is easy enough but difficult and probably expensive to find?
