My m40 runs like a bag of s**t so i took my rocker cover off to check for cam wear..
The cam itself looks fairly good as what i can tell as there is marks where the rockers have rubbed but no deep scratches or what have you (Im no mechanic im guessing)
The rockers look fairly warn as they seem to have a "flat" spot
I took the spray bar off while i was there and blew through it and it seemed fairly clear so that seems as its doing its job right
Im assuming they are toast so im looking to replace these
While i was at it i noticed the vacuum hose was split on the icv when i decided to clean that too (it was filthy)
As i made a post before but cant find it the symptoms are!!
Rough idle and not revving past 5k all the time around 30% it will and 70% it wont thats what my initial cam wear thought was for
Also it splutters on acceleration constantly (vacuum leak?)
How hard is it to replace a cam and rockers and also are good second hand ones ok?
Im in no way a mechanic just a weekend warrior.... Any help will be much appreciated
Andy

slightly worn cam and rockers will run perfectly fine and not give symptoms you suggest. unless they are absolutely toast id leave them be

Try opening up the holes a little on the spray bar - use a screw and just gently take off a burr of metal from one turn of it.

Ok cheers guys i just didnt want to throw money at useless items....
I will drill the spray bar holes slighly with a tiny drill bit and repleace
Also!!!!!! i forgot to say!
I changed the cps to a new one and it runs worse now than it did.... could i have a dodgy new sensor?
Im getting all new vaccum hose at the end of the month and im also going to take the petrol pump and and try and give it some kind of service
