Does this thing just pull off via its clips? Or is there adhesive too? Stripped everything off bar glass to repaint but it seems stubborn, don't want to bust bits. It must be easy as I can't find reference to others asking...

Sorry, clips just locate it while the factory adhesive (polyurethane) sets.

Get a sharp blade between the spoiler and the glass and work it along until it's free, but don't expect to salvage any of the clips.

Thanks guys for confirming and advice - I guess it's a bond back on job with silicone or mastic when it's time.

Clips are still available from the dealer to correctly locate the spoiler when refitting. Be extremely careful not to put a kink in it as you'll never get it straight again!

I have the BMW instructions for fitting the touring tech II rear spoiler in pdf. form. This is one of 90+ pdf. files that should have made it into the wiki, but a few including this one went astray somewhere between here and Poland.
The instructions include removing the original small spoiler, and reading through them, it looks like only the Tech II is held on by polyurethane adhesive. It suggests the original is fixed with double sided adhesive tape, and is removed simply by twisting it upwards as if it was hinged along the top edge.

Standard spoiler does have a thin strip of tape that sticks to the glass but I would still advise first breaking the seal with a blade.
