Front fogs not working question

When I got my chromie '90 cabbie it had front fogs already fitted, one was cracked and rusted to buggery the other was OK but the bulb had blown.

I have now purchased a replacement (thank you Brutus) for the busted one, but nothing happens when the switch is pushed, neither the fogs or the dash light come on? The rear fog works and the rear fog light on the dash comes on.

I have re-read and followed the wiki for retro-fitting front fogs - both bulbs are working, I've replaced the two 7.5 fuses in positions 29 and 30 and I have swapped over the K8 and K4 relays (the headlights carry on working after swapping) and I have checked the lights are actually connected to the loom :)

Am I missing something obvious?

Or do I need to start checking connections/wiring from the switch and follow the wires to the fogs??

First of all, pull out relay K8, identify pins 30 and 87 of its socket (marked on relay), and link these pins of the socket together with a short piece of wire. This should make both foglamps and the tell tale light up.
If all is OK there, refit K8, pull out the foglamp switch, unplug it, switch on the ignition, switch on the lights, and use a piece of wire to connect pin 7 (grey) and pin 5 (grey/blue) of the switch's plug together.
If this also makes the foglights work, dismantle the switch (with buttons facing upwards), clean, add a small touch of silicon grease, and reassemble.

Brilliant, thank you guys, something to keep me busy at the weekend :)

Presumably, if connecting 30 and 87 doesn't get the lamps lit there is something amiss with the wiring from the fuse box to the lamps?

Spot on, manky switch being the problem! All sorted and illuminating :) Couldn't wait 'til the weekend.

If you are following in my footsteps - take heed to what BrainMoooooore says about opening the switch up with the buttons facing up! He speaks wisely, I tried to follow his advice, but failed, and spent 10 minutes looking for the two springs that flew off in different directions!
