OK had a central locking fault the other day read the wiki took the door connector apart cleaned the pins etc checked out the control module in the speaker hole all good!!! Carried out the red and black wire mod put it back together and it worked perfectly!!! Awesome I thought really pleased!! Until today and the drivers door lock does not work, the passenger door/boot/petrol flap all still lock but the drivers door lock seems very stiff and I'm worried about breaking the key....if I have the window down and assist the door pin up and down as I turn the key it all works perfectly,so I presume the actuator is faulty?seized? Can they be refurbished? Or do I need a new one?
Many thanks as always for any input

The actuator is likely to be fine. It's the rest of the mechanism, with thirty year old grease, that's likely to be the problem.
If the actuator really isn't being powered at all, don't forget that the wiring for this passes through the 'A' pillar plug and socket as well, and while these pins don't corrode on their own, they may have suffered from proximity to the red/black wire pins.
