I'm currently going through the painful process of re-wiring my track car. On the dashboard loom at the moment, generally fairly simple so far as things go, except there's one connector I can't identify from the wiring diagrams. I'm not sure if it was plugged into something when I originally stripped the car, but it definitely wasn't plugged into anything when I pulled the dash out again.

4-pin, flat black connector like the one the analogue clock/OBC chime/electric mirrors use. Located behind the heater/stereo panel. The wire colours are:

Grey/Red
Red/Green
Brown/Black
Brown

I should add that the car (was) a 1990 318i. Hopefully someone will know this off the top of their head!

Cheers.

I should add I recognise that the green/red will be permanent live from fuse 21 and the red/grey will be illumination. But are the others two earths? Would seem strange. Could it be stereo related?

You say 'like' the clock connector. I'd say that IS the clock connector.

If it is, that's great! I thought I'd already got rid of that though - the 9 pin connector that links the OBC to the C3 connector on the instrument cluster?

OBC uses its own dedicated sub loom, which is only fitted when an OBC is specified. Analogue clock connects to the dashboard sub loom that is fitted to all E30s, and its plug remains unused when an OBC is fitted.

Excellent, thanks Brian. That sounds like my car originally had an OBC then that then broke or was sold on and replaced with a standard clock.
