For a 325 - now a highly specced 327... has been running a large itg filter which came highly rated at the time...

Now I know most people here recommend just using the standard airbox and I'm probably going back to that, for a while at least!!!

So which standard fit panel filter would people recommend???
A quick eBay search offers mahle, k&n, pipercross, green, as well as unbranded stuff!!!
Is there any point going for something more expensive than the mahle???

Age-old question isn't it. Looking at some evidence it does point to a slight increase in horses using a K&N panel filter instead of the stock paper one (and standard air box) especially plus other small mods (ie ecu 'chip'). Such a minimal difference that it may not be worth the price... depends on your outlook.

I like experimenting from time to time and today replaced the stock air tube with a larger toilet waste pipe, cutting larger holes in the air box and headlight cover to accommodate. I am using a K&N panel filter. It's an idea I got from Unix Nerd's website.

Cones ate obviously frowned upon but will make a nice noise and will look nice, especially when installed with a custom built (but totally useless) heat shield.

Standard air filter 5 euros - K&N 75 euro - blimey that's a bit bonkers! I hope you get an extra 10 Horses for that!

Bog waste pipe - good idea!!

I'm looking almost a tenner for a cheaper one, or about £40 for a k&n etc, so not the end of the world - already got an airbox on the way from a fellow zoner - just got to work out how to attach/fit it to the maf when I've got the car and airbox home at the same time!!!

With all the mods done on the car, (pretty much everything that can be done), it would seem silly to me not to got the extra little bit for a 'better' filter!!!

It'll be interesting to see how much the sound of the car changes - sort of feel I won't hear the difference with the volume of the btb straight through assaulting my ears, but we shall see!!!

Just because it's four times the price, doesn't make it four times better, or even any better.

I agree Brian, hence the original question!

Though I guess the only way I can find out what works best in my individual situation, is probably just trying them and doing a comparison!!!

Nothing flows better than no air filter at all, and you won't see any difference between no filter and a good quality paper one.

As I respect your opinion Brian, think I will just get a cheap 'standard' filter for now and see how I get on!

If I have money to waste one day, I might get hold of a different one for comparison, but I do agree at least, that I'm not going to notice a difference in performance from the tired cone filter!!!
