the M20 ratios are for a 320i rally class, not much good for big hp, zf bolts straight up to motor, crossmember needs slight mod for slight angle change, and you have option of 4, 5 or 6 speed with ZF also, RRP is 4000euro for 5 speed, 4800 for 6 speed, then there is optional shifter, GST etc, I can do a better price than that though...

$5500Au is still up there, Albins 3 gear is only about $1900 but have to do a major adaption

the car raced at Phillip Island grand Prix circuit on the weekend, best time 1:46.2, still on 205/50/15 tyres, there is another 1.5 seconds at least in it yet, with 3.46 diff, car was hitting ~8400rpm in 1:1 5 th gear on the straight around 165 mph!!!

honestly there are no magic breakthroughs to be found, simply using old fashion tuning techniques works very well. the recipe is very easy

I was talking to a local engine tuner and he said the 2.8 m20 built was a 'hand grenade engine' .... not heard that tbh.

honestly if someone is worried about spending a bit of money then modifying engines isn't something they should be contemplating but you don't need to go crazy allout to build a strong reliable m20

Hi all I've posted elsewhere on my wish to build a stroker I've got a M20B25 with 885 head etc it has throttle bodies and weber alpha management cat cam 284 and fritz exhaust system end to end also a baffled enlarged sump and M21 oil pump and lightened flywheel it makes 190FWHP on Thor racing hub dyno

I want to build a 2.8 or buy a 2.9 kit from IE, one or the other, Im not looking for the ultimate power just as much torque as I can get and 200 FWHP do I buy a kit with new rods shells bolts etc off IE or go down theDIY route , am I right in thinking I've got to use an m52 crank with 130 mm rods ( probably new ones) and my existing pistons. he car is track only and I don't mind running fuel additive as I have access to it via a friend who builds and runs per race cars. Also Im not frightened of machining Etc as the friend has access to all that.

more than 3.5 years later and still going strong, now in 1:43's at Phillip Island, and raced at Bathurst last weekend, had to start this race in 35th due to retiring on last lap in race 2 with broken half shaft while running 5th...got up to 10th-
