Right firstly for the stupid question... how can you tell if an injector is faulty without taking it out?

Also are 320i injectors the same as the 325i

Im assuming they are differnt due to the power difference, but if i was to put these in to m20b25 for testing purposes... will the engine run? (As i have tested working set)

My car starts and runs but will sometimes have a hesitant moment when reving and there is a loudish ticking from under the inlet manifold where the injecors sit... I thought the ticking was from the head but im now starting to doubt the injectors as the ticking is no louder with the rocker cover off.

The ticking gets faster as you rev the engine but not louder

Any advice would be appreciated

the injectors do tick quite loudly on a m20. and as far as im aware the 2.0 and the 2.5 use different injectors and a different fuel pressure reg.

Is the fuel pressure regulator the black valve on the end of the rail? If so im using a 2.0 one... could this be the issue?

2.0 FPR is 2.5 bar, 2.5 FPR is 3.0 bar, therefore your engine will be running with a weak mixture. This could well be the reason for your hesitation.
