So first of all hello from ages ago. Been away for a long time. My original username was actually scjimbo
What have I missed? Lol
Ok so still got my chromie, tried selling it last year with very little success ( which is good as it kept the misses quiet).
I find myself in the situation where I don't really know what to do with it. What I was thinking was two things.
Big engine and historical hill climbing.
Big engine and build a sleeper of sorts.
What do you ladies and gents think?

as for your chromie? personally i build a big m20 (2.8 upto 3.1) with a few choice & tasty mods done to it, a set of original style bbs & like you say build a sleeper & go out to play from time to time.

Morning Steve
Ah not too much then, pony was on the cusp of that for ages. I had a look at the facebook group but i felt about 110.
That's exactly what I was thinking with the car. You'd go building a big m20 rather than a swap for something newer?
I have looked into both, I guess it keeps with the oemness of the whole thing!

i'm a big fan of "period tuning" & keeping the car looking close to OEM (says the bloke with 17x8.5 compo cxn's)Ducatiman wrote:Morning Steve

i really despair with the "throw an M5X in it" comments,
as for the FB group it does feel like a playground at times but it's FB so it's to be expected lol.

far more satisfying than a galactic/unknown mileage M5X,
the world is your oyster, have a word with byron (maggspower) as he seems to be the m20 guru.

Hello dude. Problem with FB is it's a worse technology than a forum, ie a post is never in the same place it was 24 hrs ago. Plus it's sucked the membership from old school forums, which is probably it's bigger crime.

Making old stuff work better is nice if you have the money to fund it. Most dont, which is why they fit more reliable engines like an M52steve_k wrote:i'm a big fan of "period tuning" & keeping the car looking close to OEM (says the bloke with 17x8.5 compo cxn's)Ducatiman wrote:Morning Steve

but i'm a big fan of keeping it as original looking as possible while making upgrades to the whole drive line.

Byron has built me (and it works as it says on the tin), a 3.1 stroker with ITBs, a sweet bit of kit. Hit the rollers at 290 (N/A engine) wound it back to 280 for a better torque curve. As Dan says, you need to invest to get the best torque. I would speak to Byron. Still looks OEM from the outside on my old H27 cab though !

Well that's all well and good but the truth is it's a 320 standard car. It's slower than my company car and uses 4 times more fuel. The sad fact is that although it's lovely to keep is standard etc etc. It never gets used. Why would you take out a thirsty car that your scared to death to park anywhere?
If I put a nice fast engine in it I think you would use it.
Plus I already pay 50 a month to keep it inside as it is. I can't really afford to spend a lot of money on sleepering a car that is to all intents and purposes a fast pile of junk.
That's my thinking behind it anyway lol

If you want to use the car then mod it as you like and use it, if you want an ornament then leave it in the garage and take pictures of it
