Hi

Im looking to get myself an E30 and found one which seems reasonable over in NI

What worries me though is the owner states he has the old style V5 document

Should this be of concern? Link to the car below let me know your thoughts

Thanks

Further tovthe above the owner states the v5 he has is in the previous owners name that would explain why he hasnt got the new v5

Making me think if it seems abit off?

Maybe he purchased the car cheap with the plan of restoring it a bit and then selling it on and didnt want to add another owner to it?
It does seem a bit weird though as the DVLA will never have known that he has owned the car. I take it he has been declaring SORN in the other guys name?
I could be worth asking the guy for the previous owners name and contacting them to check its all above board.
If the previous owner had the car for a long time, that could explain the old style V5.
I would certainly be digging a little deeper!

I've asked for hik to contact the previous owner from whom he purchased the car from 2 years ago or to pass xontact details over to me so i can check myself

Cheers for info, whats the overall thought of the car from the ad and pics?

Looks okay, but the general opinion I have pick up on from posts on this forum, is that Ireland cars tend not to be what they are described to be and have been "enthusiatically driven".... I could be wrong, of course.

Yeah I'm hoping it has been restored to good condition!

I'd be looking for it to be a weekend car/investment but wary of the 165000 mileage

Is this something to worry about or pht potential buyers off in future?

That's what you meed to establish. Restored and valeted can mean anything from body filler and a quick blow over to every little detail restored to factory condition.

That sort of mileage is 'middle aged' for these cars. 300,000 miles should be achievable without problems if maintenance, past and future, is kept up to date. It'll obviously deter some potential buyers, and the lower the mileage the better, but at least you can drive the thing without worrying too much about putting more miles on.
