Fill with a bit of fluid and link the two lines together. There is also a plate that can be bought which does the same but a lot neater.
The question is why would you want to? I am going back to powersteering. The effort required with 8j wheels and sticky r spec tyres with lots of castor is far too much and completely ruins the car as I'm fighting the wheel past a quarter of a turn

converting a powersteering rack to manual will never feel right, will feel heaver than a proper
manual rack
i,m planing on fitting a z4 rack thats supposed to be they way to go to go manual
only mod needed is 14mm spacers and a reducing of the length of the bit that goes between the knuckles
google it a guy in the states did a good write up about it

Ive done several link pipes for people, always the same story, I advise it will be a waste of time/money as ive known people do it before and end up fitting the PAS parts, they go ahead and have a link pipe anyway, a week or so later I get an order for complete PAS lines

That was my first thought, but the exact wording is "If power steering is optional fitment on themaxfield wrote:To add its an MOT fail if the cars power steering has been deleted.
Unless you get yourself a manual rack and get rid of everything PAS related.
vehicle but has been disconnected in such a way
that there is no adverse effect on the steering, that
is not a Reason for Rejection. It may be necessary
to verify this by road testing. "
Power steering was optional on E30s, so it's a bit of a grey area.
When I got my E30 the PAS was not working, all the fluid had drained out so at least I was not trying to shift the fluid about and it was not unbearably heavy but there is still no way I would ever want to go to a manual system. The lad I bought it from I don't think was aware the PAS was not working, he told me the main reason he was selling it was that he just didn't like the feel of the car!
