Right, looks like I'll have to bite the bullet and buy a new battery very soon!!!

I see ECP have 67% off for black friday

When I put my reg in, it offers me four different types of battery, so I guess I'll need to have a measure up before I make a purchase.

Last battery I had was a Bosch which cost me about £125 in feb 2011.

Are there any particular brands to go for, or avoid???

ECP offers up Lion (never heard of!), Exide (choice of 2), Duracell(!) & Bosch (choice of 3!) - do I just get the cheapest???

I'm thinking I'll probably end up with the Exide Premium 72Ah / 720CCA - £133.20, reduced to £119.99 with blackfriday discount.... £79.79!!!

Seems like a decent price!!!

Just gotta check the measurements tonight before I order!!!

the first few on the list appear to be a 100 battery. you want either a 075 for the smaller e30 battery or a 096 for the larger type.

the four different batteries are different sizes as in CCA ( cold cranking amps) the bigger it is the longer it will mostly likely last as you loose efficiency over the years so a 400 rated cca battery could have only 300 left in 3 years or 500 rated cca battery would have 400 left in 3 years so going bigger is generally better but remember when choosing the bonnet catch near it will hit the battery if its too big.

i think its a 063 or 075 for e30's but higher the number obviously the higher rated CCA so longer it would last. hope that helps.

Four pot or six pot, you won't go wrong with an 096. Wiring around the outer end tends to get in the way a bit on a four pot, but it will fit.
