Hey Guys,

Long term E30 and general BMW fan here. Had a mint 1989 Lachs Silver E30 325i 2 dr way back in 1996 and loved it of course. My mum had a 1986 320i chromie back in 1988 too :)

I also have a few more M Power BMWs at the moment. Love them all of course :)

I recently acquired this M3 back in April but haven't touched it yet. But my mechanic is going to get it started. Needs a little bit of rust repair by the off side windscreen drain hole, and a new windscreen which I have sourced from BMW.

I know the car since the owner purchased it in about 1998 about 6 months after it was imported.

PS I wrote a post in the New Members Section back in March / April time but it has disappeared :(

Any advice before we start her up after sitting without being ran for about 7 years or so, when it was occasionally started and given a quick run around the block ?

I will slowly start to restore her but quite keen to just get her up and running and getting any mechanic niggles sorted out first !

Cheers and yes indeed at Phil's :D

I just had a quick reread of your Lachs Silver restoration thread for some inspiration.

Also one of your E34 M5 rebuilds on another forum.

You do some amazing work !!

Thanks for the photos via email Sam !

My Indy has got my car up and running finally after its near 10 year slumber.

Need to get a few bits of bodywork neatened up, namely around the scuttle panel and then I'll get my hands on it.

Can't wait to be driving an E30 again.....last time I did was about 1995/1996 :)

Cheers

Update :

Mechanically the car is at a reasonable level. Most items that need refreshing have been done and an Inspection II carried out.

Its now getting some rust sorted out on both the scuttle corners. Thankfully the rest of the shell seems rust free (touch wood).

Finally a new windscreen and rubber seal will be fitted and then the car MOT'd

This is what the problem area looked like before taking off the windscreen (hiding the issues lurking beneath) :

Its been a long wait since purchase (April 2016) but should be able to start driving it soon !
