You want to know how to adjust this valve, but I have no idea what it is - someone clever will be along shortly!

The mechanical ignition timing vacuum advance/retard cylinder on an M20 distributor (old type, driven by oil pump drive) has separate pipes for advance and retard. One of these pipes has this valve in it to damp the response of the timing change when the throttle is snapped shut, preventing 'overshoot' and thus controlling emissions.
I haven't seen one for twenty five years, didn't even know it was adjustable, and can find no reference to adjusting it in the Haynes or Autodata manuals.
That's what it is. Anyone know anything about it?

Thanks for the reply, when I unscrew, the car is very smooth but knocks, BUT WHEN I hold adjustment, becomes silent, no rattling, but the first laps he drowns, and not ë snappy. I just wanted to know if there is any Technical Document to adjust a duty
Thank's my friend

There are very few of these carb. cars still around, and those that are have mostly been converted to a Weber carb., and a lot of this excess plumbing ditched.

Es gibt sehr wenige dieser Vergaser-Autos noch herum, und diejenigen, die sind vor allem in eine Weber carb konvertiert worden, und eine Menge dieser ÃaberschÃassigen Sanitär gegraben.

Yes, I'm aware of this, but was thrown by the "Pierburg" in the title!
I suspect that the injected version could still benefit from a "simplification", just as the carb. version does.
A simple single vacuum tube from the inlet plenum to the distributor vacuum advance cylinder has always sufficed on the engines I worked on in the 1960s and '70's.
The knocking that you describe sounds like it could be 'pinking' (detonation), caused by too much ignition advance/insufficiently high octane rating of the fuel.
Sorry I can't be more help, but I'm totally unfamiliar with this set up, and can find no reference in any of my technical manuals to any adjustment on this valve.

I see
but if some engineers have built this piece, it means that it is not sufficient a connection with a pipe to do the job
I can guarantee that if you put a tube, skipping the piece, the car goes very badly, and you hear knocking, with the perfect car distributor
it is strange that you do not find anything
I think more that one can sostiutire to a non-return valve
thanks for your attention and communication exchange, thanks
