evening folks,
looking for a bit of help/advise.
found out the rear drivers side abs sensor is fubar'd & needs replacing,
let it soak since yesterday till late this afternoon, went to try & remove it & the (sunken) allen key headed bolt is going nowhere, so much so it's rounding off inside.
now thing is would a star/torx key/bit be enough to get the bolt out??
not bothered about wrecking the nut &/or sensor as i've got both to replace.
also, taking the arm off & going to a garage is not an option at the moment.
so like i said would a torx bit on the torque wrench be enough to shift it???
abs sensor problems.

well following on from my post last night about the allen headed bolt that holds the rear abs sensor in place rounding off inside,
i followed the advise i found online about using a slightly larger torx/star bit to get it out (hammer it in), well i've just tried that & guess what?? it's still not out, i'm left with a splayed out former allen head bolt,
will an irwin bolt grip extractor work?? or is ot going to be the drill & easy out??
like i said last night taking the whole arm off is not an option right now

Like I said on Facbook - just cut the head of the bolt off flush with the bracket then pull the abs sensor out and the remainder of the bolt should be big enough to get grips on it.

Welder available? If so, fill the centre of the allen bolt with weld, then weld on a hex. nut. The thermal shock from welding works wonders on loosening up corroded bolts.

well, after 10min's of hammering & swearing it's off!!!
had to sacrifice a 9mm deep impact socket to get the bolt out.
one other thing, been offered a brand new pair of e36 rear abs sensors ( my new one is some where in the shed, god knows where) & i was wondering if they would fit??
