I'm 16 looking for an E30 as a first car. I've been getting quotes around the 2k mark which seems too good to be true but fine by me. This is for a 316/318i (around the same £ mark) without any agreed valuations. I suppose it could therefore fluctuate?

I wouldn't think it'd be too hard getting insured on a 318i at 17 on a 20 y/o car. My mate got his test last week and got insured on a 1.9 tdi 2009 golf for £1.4k. pretty insane, makes me think that a 318i should be easily getting insured??

thoughts/advice?? :)

Fook. I thought insuring a 3year old Astra GTE at £900 was expensive when I was 20!
I can not offer advice but well done on choice of first car.

I had an E30 as my first car insurance was about £800, that was 9 years ago, and on my 316i Touring.

A tail happy, rwd with no airbags etc car that's easy to steal or a relatively new safe Audi. Think of that one from an insurers perspective. You should get insured though. I was 18 when I bought my Sport and that wasn't that expensive to insure

I was 17/18 and driving an E30 only a couple of years ago, insurance was around £1600 I think and that was for a 320 so your price definitely sounds realistic

I paid about £1100ish on my 316 auto when I was 18 I think. Didn't Change when i swapped it to manual. Coilovers and wheels declared, nor did it go down much over the years.

£99 fully comp - one benefit of being old. :)

I got my first E30 at 21 which was a 318is and that was around £800 to insure at the time..

I didn't want one as a first car as I felt I needed to get used to the road first properly before getting the car I always wanted!

I'd advise something smallish to get the hang of it all then have the E30 to look forward too as a second car.

But each to their own and good luck with it if you do get it! :thumb:
