I had a new soft top fitted to my 320i convertible (it was from Car hood warehouse ”“ amazing company and top quality job). The car spends quite a bit of time outside. After the disaster with the full car cover (will put a link to my other post if not already seen it), I am very sceptical of car covers and only want a half cover to cover my soft top roof.
The half covers that I have seen for sale so far seem pretty lame, they just hook onto the wing mirrors and are made from the same thin material as the car cover that destroyed my bonnet. The car cover that I bought with the car with is amazing, its thick and is made specifically for an E30. It tucks under the roof at the back and tucks into the seal at the front. The only thing is that this car covered is nakered. Its ripped a bit and I think the sun light has decomposed the material slightly. I have put some pictures of my original car cover that I am looking to replace. Would anyone be able to tell me where I can buy a cover like this? If not then I was thinking about using the original as a net plan, the only thing is that I can’t sew! Thanks very much for the help.

my Halfords one (sz lg, £45) had done a fine job. Has 3 straps that secure it underneath

Invest in a hardtop, best of both worlds.

I bought a half cover, it had ears for the wing mirrors, front and rear straps. It lasted one season in Devon, the straps lost elasticity, the cover let water after a while being thrashed by West Country weather, can't recommend it, the makers said it must have been faulty. I think you need an expensive heavy full cover to protect your new roof investment!
