Steering wheel cover starting to peel off, can I peel it off

So can I peel this shit off or will it suck to use the steering wheel without this cover on?

You could peel the leather off but what you're left with will be smooth and quite slippery. This type of wheel is readily available second hand for probably less than the cost of a re-trim.

I guess it can't be worse than it is right now, right. My hand gets full of small pieces of leather when I'm driving.
