(could a mod do anything with the size of the old pics please ? )
Due to the prompt from the threads "dead zone" and the facebook post today I thought I would give this post a boot up the arse. I had a full build thread with pics on another forum but as is the current way with these things the forum dies and thats all lost for ever, It would be a shame to see this place go the same way. I will make a more detailed post of the mods to the car later.
I dont think the car will be of interest to many or really to the perverted standards of many on here. Ive always had bmws e36`s and E30s and this one was bought as a cheap car project thing back when I bought it to use as a toy...and thats what it is today the prices have gone daft since I got this they were on the up then but now getting to the point where people are not enjoying the best points of these cars I feel ..(bit like early escorts prices are madness when really to go anywhere in one is crap and a new diesel fiesta will probably outperform you in every aspect other than the big smiles these old cars can give)
SO since the last post Ive got right into drag racing the e30 is crap for that the rear end set up is poor but I will try explain with a few pics. I painted the car mat black because when i was welding the arches i managed to burn through the paint on the outside a bit, it WILL be going back dolphin as i really liked it that colour but putting the mrs through uni and trying to make it faster are taking priority over paint.
I got the car all running and welded back up then took out everything I could, the metal rear bumper was rotten and i couldnt afford another so i put the plastic bumper on off a face lift car to get it mot`d even though it looked horrendous and took it to york to see what it would do standard
(I was camping on a muddy field and had nowhere to wash it before racing.


Loosing to my dad
The car managed a best of 14.8 with the average over a race weekend of 15.1 i could do that consistently then sometimes it would go that bit quicker. I was more than happy with that for a season the engine was absolute standard high comp engine with a lightened flywheel (worse for drag racing really)
so another poor idea I had was bare metal bonnet it looks a bit ..well anyway its still like it now the whole cars wants putting back standard looking .oh and side exit exhaust (some times you look back at things you did and wonder why ? )

Then something strange happened CORGI cars got intouch and said we want to use your reg on a model e30 and some details about you and your car. I honestly thought it was a piss take but the chap had read my build thread on the other site and was interested.. I continued to think it was a piss take for a few months but went along with it then this turned up

The car as it stands now is standard looking from outside apart from the paint I have the back bumper stored back to how it should be.
The whole time Ive been using the car I have been collecting bits to make it turbo and for the end of last season I had got it all done and in but by this time the standard engine was very tired it had over heated a few times at the track and spat its fluid out a couple of times too ..on the start line it was always on the red on the temp gauge and the oil light was shining bright ..but somehow it was still running consistent 15`s with the odd high 14 thrown in. Lined up for the first turbo run and it set off well ..by mid track it was clear the car was not happy by the end it was comical, I had the exhaust coming out through the bonnet as i didn't have time to make an exhaust and it was just pumping steam straight up in the air like a bloody steam train so drove it straight on the trailer.
Its got a new engine in now and im doing the management properly with a microsquirt..im currently struggling with understanding the coil side of things to be honest this was the last pic i took of it
