Those good people at Cotswolds are bringing me a new tailgate/glass today and I'll be attempting to bond the screen myself (
). Question is, should the area that the glass makes contact with be bare metal? Also, which would be the best adhesive to use, Sikaflex, Dinitrol etc?

Phone a local auto glazing company and get them to come and do it knowing it will be done properly.
The surface needs to be etch primed before any adhesive is used, if you use too much adhesive it will make a right mess, if you don't use enough the glass could get sucked out on the motorway, you also need to use spacers to centralise the glass in the frame and sit it flush with the outer panel/trim

Cheers Dan. To be honest it's nothing I fancy doing myself but I just assumed any auto glazing people wouldn't fit a screen unless they supplied it.DanThe wrote:Phone a local auto glazing company and get them to come and do it knowing it will be done properly.

Small companies will, they are also more likely to be better at their job, if a one man band makes frequent f***-ups he will soon run out of business unlike a large nationwide insurance contractor
