E36 5 stud conversion, help needed please

So iv bought a car that has had a 5 stud conversion done to it but the front wheels sit to far back towards the drivers door for my likeing... Andbody else had this problem? Or know of a mod or fix for this..

The set up is using e36 328i struts,wishbones and hubs with h&r coilovers. Standard e36 top mounts i beleive...

Is there a differnt lolipop bush i can use to bring the wheel more to the centre? Or maybe adjustable top mounts?

You need e36 m3 Evo lower arms and eccentric M3 rear bushes.

Great... Thanks mate, So this will centre the wheel and keep all geometry where it should be?

Also what are eccentric bushes? Are they off the shelf items or custom parts?

Also should i use m3 top mounts as im thinking of changing these too? Or are the standard e36 ones up to the job?

Standard top mounts are fine imo

Might need the m3 evo hubs too - which also means m3 evo brakes. But the arms and eccentric bushes alone will certainly help, if not centre the wheel entirely.

Thanks for help guys ... I so have m3 hubs and calipers in the garage somewhere but am unsure if they are off an evo or not...

They where not used as the wheel wouldnt fit over the brakes! So ended up with 328i hubs and brakes.

Also if i was to use the m3 brakes and hubs os the e30 servo ok to use with them or will this need to be upgraded also?

Haha now we're getting into a world of pain. 5 stud conversion is easy, a 5 stud conversion that works well is not.

Standard e30 m/s and servo will be fine with the m3 evo brakes but the brake balance will be massively forward bias. If you can live with it and rear brake efficacy is sufficient to pass an MOT it's no biggie but if it's a track car you won't be getting the best out of the brakes.

What size wheels you have? e46/e36 16" wheels will clear the brakes with 15mm hubcentric spacers, or wheels with an ET of 32 or less have a good chance of fitting. 17" shouldn't be a prob.

Im planning on fitting 17" et20 wheels in the end but the car has 16" e46 wheels at the moment.

This is not a setup i would have done but as its already on the car i thought id stick with it and get better brakes at the same time.....

The car will probably never see a track in my ownership lol, its a convertible running m20b25 auto...
Its just that i jump out of my e61 daily driver and find the e30 brakes quite poor...

Any pointers where to look for eccentric m3 bushes?

Yeah I have 16" E46 wheels now with the E36 Evo setup and they clear with 15 mm spacers - albeit with about 0.5 - 1 mm shaved off the extremities of the caliper. This amount of material in these positions will not compromise strength whatsoever.





With 17" ET20 wheels you should have no problem whatsoever with clearance

Eccentric bushes from dealer, Ebay, many car spares places. Get the part no. from RealOEM and google it
