Hi guys.

My engine bay on the iS is looking a bit disheartened. I would like to remove the valve cover and intake manifold to get it sandblasted then powder coated.

I have researched a bit online and the job doesn't look bad, I just wondered if anyone has any tips? First time doing this.

I know I will need new gaskets, but any particular tools or recommended products for this job and the rest of the bay?

Help much appreciated!

I have done it with a normal tool kit without a problem.

Be careful not to drop anything into the inlet side of the engine and dont over tighten the bolts that hold the rocker cover down.

The rocker cover bolts each have a rubber seal and new ones will be in the gasket kit, I cut the old ones off as they were rock hard but the new ones were soft and easy to push into place.

Agree it's quite straightforward (1/4inch drive socket set is ideal). When removing the manifold there is a small bore neoprene tube connected underneath (at the front) to remove. Also you'll get easy access to the hoses which will almost certainly require renewing (mine were perished at the connectors). I also found 4 cam cover bolts with stripped threads in the head and 'helicoiled' those (easy to do with an e-bay kit). Why not pull the injectors and get them serviced? (The best money ever spent) :D
