on the Wiki it mentions that the E30 starters differ in terms of Bendix, I currently pulled my starter out as it sounded like it was eating itself up , I found the gears were not fully engaging with the flywheel which made a funny sort of sound, the bendix gears are now worn away by about 1mm.
I also found 2 washers between the starter and the bellhusing , should there be any washers here ??
Car is a Chromie 323i , but the starter is the newer style one as I had a conrod take out the old larger style unit.
