I got the bill from my mechanic today for the work he carried out on my engine. I supplied all the parts except the oil filter and oil.
This is what he did:

Fitted new oil pump
Fitted new main bearings
Fitted new big end bearings
Fitted new pressure release valve
Fitted new engine mount (old one was well knackered!)
Cleaned the rail at the top out (cant remember what its called)
Adjusted the tappets
Oil and filter change
Washed the car
Supplied and fitted new air freshener! (but it smells like toilet duck!!)

And the cost?........

Ԛ£156.60

Bit of a bargain I think!

The best part though, is that I know hes done a good job.

Its not easy to find a good mechanic, so ill make sure I dont loose contact with him.

Well, I dropped the car off to him about midday on saturday and he picked me up from work with it the following friday night, some of that time it was just waiting for parts to arrive but he still spent a fair bit of time on it.

He services and repairs cars for quite a few people at work.

At those sort of prices I could afford to put him up in a hotel while he works on my cars.

Inspection 1 Ԛ£150? All that work for Ԛ£156??????????????????

Who has a spare sister ? Get that man married to her then you can always keep hold of him and let him be the official nationwide zone mechanic !

That sound's great mate :D
As long as you do know he's done a good job cos the price can often tell you if the job has been done right or even if it's done at all, just a pointer

Hes even given me all the old parts to show me what was wrong with them.
For him an engine rebuild is no big job as hes part of a team that builds and races top fuel dragsters and during a race weekend he will have to strip and re-built about 4 engines.
