Just doing a cam-belt change, dismantling and found the crank timing sensor cable runs from the sensor, tie wrapped to the water pump snout, 1 mm from the water pump pulley - this can't be right, where should it go??

thanks all

Paul :-)

Crystal ball is still under repair, so I'll guess this is a M20.
CPS cable, along with that from the oil pressure switch, should be in a plastic channel, with a cover, that is secured under two plastic clips fitted into two holes in the timing belt cover, behind the pump pulley.
The fixing part of the clips gets destroyed if the common belt tensioner shaft fixing failure occurs, throwing the belt against the cover.

Thanks Brian,

Your crystal ball repairs must be complete, accurate diagnosis.
