evening guys, am in the middle of changing a cable on a manual sunroof e30.

have dismantelled the mech. at the rearmost end of the cable.

have removed overhead console etc., and have unscrewed every bolt i can see on the winder mechanism but still can't get the cable to disengage/come out- whats the secret final step im missing?

thanks for that, but it doesnt cover what im after.

from what ive read online, the final step to removing a cable is to drop the drive mech.,be it electric or manual, down -then u can pull cable out.

but it seems my manual drive assembly is a one-piece unit-cant see a way of dismantelling further-unless perhaps the centre-cog thing is supposed to come out-it does seem loose.

unscrewing one small screw and the whole thing comes down-had noticed the screw earlier but 'cos it didn't loosen at first attempt i forgot about it.

thanks again!
