Just had the beemer out for the first time in a while tonight.

After about.. 10mins driving, i noticed the warning light to the immediate right of the handbrake light was having a fit, blinking on and off, then staying on for a period, then flicking off again.

It LOOKS.... like a connection fault, i.e. the blinking etc.. when the connectors touch and come apart.

But i dont really know.

Anyone shed any light (get it winkeye) on what this light is indicating, and if i should be worried

For referance, the light is a circle, with dashed brackets either side, and is red in colour  A bit like this - (O) but the brackets are small dashed lines.

Cheers.

thats the brake sensor warning mate
could be that your sensors are naffed
or your pads need changing

or there is another fault that Brianmoore has mentioned a few times
there is a resistor on the back of the cluster
and the solder joints crack.

have a search for I think its "220 ohm resistor"

shouldnt be the brake pads as they were done not long ago, infact, less than 800 miles ago.

Will have a read at the other thread.

Cheers. :D

The pad sensors are only loops of wire that wear through and go open circuit or short to earth.
Leads from the sensors can wear through on the inside of the wheel rims if they have not been dressed properly . Sensor can unclip from the pads and wear through prematurely, or the plug and socket for the sensors may not be making contact properly.
Pull the sensor plug out and short the pins in the socket together with a piece of wire.

I have the same problem, constant red light on and been on from the day and hour i bought the car and i get the usual 'whats that light in your dash on for?'

I changed the pads when i serviced the car a load of weeks back and noticed the monkey that had the car before me had worn the pads down to nothing and to the point the sensor had worn on the disc so as soon i need to get off my arse and get a new sensor and hopefully that will solve it.

That's your problem. Once a sensor's worn through and turns the light on it has to be replaced.
