As long as the regulators are the same type (later metal geared vs earlier worm drive cable driven) then a 2 door regulator will fit a front door of a 4 door car and vice versa.

This does NOT include convertibles wihich had a bespoke regulator.

thanks but my 2 door does not have power windows so is it still possible?
if you mean pre-facelift vs facelift, the 4door power windows and my 2 door non power windows
if so what is involved?

Yes, as long as you fit the glass as well, and that may be a different colour tint. Note that the window change did not happen at exactly the same time as the body changes. There are series 2 E30s with the older windows, but with the later tint.

BMW E30 glass comes in clear, brown tint, or green tint. The 'default' was brown for early stuff, changing to green for the series 2. No blue tint ever offered.
Glass is different shape for the two mechanisms.
