1990 M20 325 flywheel, what and where
Moderator: martauto
Hi guys. I've been looking about for a lightened flywheel for the motor and have read that not to go for anything below 6kg. Its a road car and will be rarely on a track. Just looking to increase performance a bit and get it ro rev up quicker. Any taughts what and where to go for. Thanks in advance.

Your current one can be lightened.
6 cylinder cars are largely unaffected by the weight of the flywheel. You may need a few more revs to pull of, but the tales of lumpy idle and losing torque are bullshit.

It need to be balanced after.
Pm me if you would like it done, its a very good mod

Ah sorry dude, mine is fitted to a 4cyl M44 engine.
Byron (Maggspower) doesn't know it yet, but he'll be lightening another one for my M20 when I start work on it

i have lightened OEM FW 12-13lb and with decent cam you can still use A/C and drive in peak hr traffic without fear of stalling on a good running specimen. i wouldn't go lighter as chances are it will chatter worse and on a smaller engine it may be a little more sensitive due to the smaller firing pulses.
