Was looking at buying complete new lines for both these, but there is a few problems in this. One of the steering hose is NLA and the oil cooler lines look to come just bright zinc plated, when I believe originally they had some painted coating to protect the lines. They also all seem to come bright zinc plated and not the nicer original looking yellow zinc.

Given the steel parts on mine are all very clean and usable, it doesn't seem too hard to reuse these bits and repaint the oil cooler lines as per original while I'm sending off a bunch of other stuff to be yellow zinc plated.

Can the main high pressure steering hose be replicated ? The joint on it looks rather substantial and not sure it comes apart like other lines which just have a basic ferrule. I was thinking pop down a Pirtek type place, get new ferrules and hose, yellow zinc plate fitting, let them crimp it all together, but was unsure on the high pressure hose.
Thanks

You will be lucky if pirtek would touch it as its a non standard size and they would be guessing at the swaging sizes. I originally tried to get custom hoses for my own car made by pirtek but they were not very helpful/interested which is what led me to making the pipe sets I now sell.
I make the return E30 line as its now NLA, finished in yellow passivate as per original

To be honest I have never found pirtek to be that helpful and damn do they know how to charge.

Mine is an M3 hose and different to the one above. Oddly, the NLA one is a low pressure hose from the reservoir with seems to have had an old list price of nearly £250 !!!??? Which seems a bit much even by BMW's standards as the near identical line next to it is above £50, both being jubilee clip held at the reservoir end.
So Pirtek aren't that interested in doing this type of work ? Pity, nothing is ever that easy when trying to get the details just right. Is the high pressure hose ferrule replaceable using the old steel line ?
Thanks
