I have just had a recall for my 2001 330 Ci relating to a problem with the passenger airbag. I am amazed to have a recall for such an old car, but it does sound a potentially serious problem. Anyone else had one?

About half the world has. It's a problem with a particular make of airbag, used by many manufacturers, for many years, where it's been discovered that they go off with too much force, resulting in them being a safety hazard instead of a safety enhancer.

The airbag manufacturer has had problems with that model in other manufacturer vehicles so as a precaution BMW are changing that range fitted to E46 models, quite quick to do we usually do them as waiting jobs, takes longer to get it through the wash bay :)

tell me about it

i still use the parts dept there only because the guys there are spot on. I make a point of giving the service manager a dirty look every time i see him

This will make you laugh, around September last year, i went there in the e24. Once i was all done i walked outside and the cunt was out side looking at it with one of the other service guys

i asked him if he wanted to give it a courtesy service wash, his face dropped :D

I had mine done last week and I had read this first so it did not get washed and also the "free health check" was by-passed as well.
There are no free lunches in this world.

Mart.
Only the E46 cab left now.
Just got too old.
