Oh and I appear to have decided that German stuff was just too reliable for me and have clearly had a MASSIVE midlife crisis (the 944s and 911 don't count. That was the "menoporsche").

Now getting my rocks off in this.

its bollocks really as kids, the m5 and broken e36 on the drive command lots of attention along with house "DIY" and any other shit like work and wives can think up to stop you doing what you really want!

Nooooooooo, It belonged to the chap I bought the GTV from.
My 911 was from 1972, brown, smelly and a touch rusty in places. Sold it for what was I thought was good money at the time. They're now fetching upwards of 60K! 8O

Mega. Horribly impractical, not that comfortable, but there's just something about them. The engine makes a lovely "rasp". Yes, you can get them for pennies, but I highly recommend that you DON'T!

You need to spend time looking for one that's been cared for properly, otherwise you'll be sat at the side of the road surrounded by steam, oil and engine parts (possibility of some flames and smoke too).

The rear suspension is complicated and eats bushes for breakfast.

They use oil (quite a bit, it's perfectly normal) and most uninitiated owners didn't bother checking the level. Has to be checked WEEKLY, it even says so in the owners manual.

The 3.0 litre is slightly better oil wise, but the heavy lump ruins the balance and handling. It's definitely quicker in a straight line and the noise is glorious, but through the bends a Twin Spark would be all over it.

All in all, nice little cars and a solid investment if you get a good one now. There are only 125 or so 2.0 TS's left on the road. Prices are already going up for the V6 and the Twinny is starting to catch up.

I've always fancied an Alfa but the reliability does put me off. Certainly agree that you need to be extra careful when buying one and yours looks very clean.

Yeah, it has it issues, but all the important stuff has been done. Polybushed throughout, cambelt and variator (like vanos) done 2000 miles ago. The bonnet has been painted in the past and it's a slightly different shade, but not that noticeable.

A good one will set you back around 2.5k to 3k for a twinny. A decent V6 is 5k plus

Did someone mention an ongoing project that takes years to complete? How about an ongoing project that I haven't actually got around to start.... after 10years... does that count? Can I join the club?
