Guys
What are the main causes for water under the rear passenger side seat?
Sunroof pipe blockage?

When I had it on mine it was the bung in the floor underneath.

Funnily enough it's right where that bung is situated. I noticed it when changing my fuel pump on Thursday. So kept the interior out, dried it all and drove it on Friday in the rain. Didnt notice it come back. It's just sat on the drive since. Checked today and the leakage there again.

Unlikely if it got wet without being driven?Brianmoooore wrote:This.darkchild wrote:When I had it on mine it was the bung in the floor underneath.

I sprinkled some flour round the area when searching for a water leak recently. It's easier to see where the leak is coming from. Maybe leave the carpet out for a while and give it a go.

Talcum powder is a better product to use than flour - flour + water = wallpaper paste.
Damaged or missing door films are an often missed source of water getting into a parked car.
Any sign of damp on the headlining?
Are the fin shaped trim pieces behind the rear windows firm?

do you mean under the rear bench seat, because I often find under the cushion is wet but not on top. this happens when my car is parked too.
I think it is a bad boot seal which is letting water creep forward from the boot in mine if that helps... just a theory as my sunroof and door seals are fine and all bungs and inspection hatches under that back seat are fine.

Fin shaped trim pieces are held in place by two plastic grommets each, which are supposed to be replaced every time the trim is removed and refitted. Water that enters via these grommets can end up on the rear seat.

Did you manage to get your leak sorted Mitchen? I wasn't sure what bung everyone suspected.Mitchen wrote:Guys

My rear drivers side footwell was like a pond this morning....
looks like water is coming from this corner, usually it just pools under the bench seat (even when parked) but the back of the car was uphill so all the water drained into the footwell. and quite a lot of it. Might be a separate leak though...

Is the top most black trim in my picture the one you suspected Brian?Brianmoooore wrote:Fin shaped trim pieces are held in place by two plastic grommets each, which are supposed to be replaced every time the trim is removed and refitted. Do you have a sunroof. If so it's the drainage pipes that start in the top two corners at the rear then go to the boot . Check the roof liner . will be wet or peal it back and see we're the pipe connect mine were carroded . Rain runs down the rear pillers on to seat and floor.I taped up sunroof not a good look but no more leaks till I got it sorted

Thanks for the reply, I had tested the sunroof drains and all seemed to be emptying where they should, but I can't be sure that they aren't leaking tooSiggo wrote:Do you have a sunroof. Roof is never wet... is the liner hard to get off and back on?

Yeah pain to get back . Goes under window seal need a special hook tool. I'm sure it will be that. If you have your seats out and water test again you should see water coming down the pillars . Or tape up sun roof and if it doesn't happen again you know it's deffo that

Is the car parked on a slope facing downhill?Mitchen wrote:Funnily enough it's right where that bung is situated. I noticed it when changing my fuel pump on Thursday. If it is, then check your light gaskets and boot seals.
Had this problem on a zoners car recently and found the water creeping from the boot area to underneath the rear seat and down into the foortwell because of a leaking light seal.
Oh and it was parked on a slope outside his house facing downhill

If you Got "Haters",Then your doing something Right!
CR24v??? Where's it all gone?? LOL

Just because some water is exiting from the sunroof drain tubes, doesn't mean it all is. A sunroof tray with rust holes is still likely to send some water down the drains.
The trim piece I referred to further up the thread is the body coloured metal piece immediately behind the rear side windows.

thanks for all the replies guys. I had suspected the boot seal, so had some welding done and fitted a new seal, it stopped letting water into the trunk after that.
But given that it is still creeping onto the back bench (and onto the floor when facing downhill only), I will tape up the sunroof like Siggo suggested and see if there is another leak.
And if its the sunroof I guess I join the club of sunroof haters and start practicing with my buddies welding stuff.

nooo, don't worry I wasn't gonna weld the sunroof shut, but will one day have to pull that liner off and see if there are holes or drain problems I can fix, or if its a job for the restorers in Amlwch.
