Hi all,

I've got a 1989 320i touring..The door lock mech is messing about.

It'll only unlock if you pull in the interior handle and lift the knob, and it'll only catch and close if you lock the door 1st.

Also you can't operate the lock with the key.

The central locking has been temperamental for some time too..It's already had the wiring mod before my ownership.

So will this one fit?

I appreciate that this one will be for a chromie, and mines a facelift shadowline.

Thanks in advance :)

Door catches are all the same for 2 door, 4 door and touring right up to very late production when the unreliable lock motor built into the catch was introduced. Cab latches are different.
This part should fit your car, but I doubt very much if it will solve your problem.
Lubrication, adjustment, possibly a new L shaped alloy piece on the lock barrel, and sorting the central locking, probably will.

Thanks Brian :)

It's been laid up for winter(as usual), so I'll strip it out again before she goes back on the road.

I will post back up how I get on :)
