Surely leaving is not good for our cars as we will then have to pay import fee's on German things so bits for our cars will go up in price?

Why? Our government hasn't said anything about raising taxes on imports.Sambe30 wrote:Surely leaving is not good for our cars as we will then have to pay import fee's on German things so bits for our cars will go up in price?

A taxi driver asked me this question on Sunday morning. My reply deprived him of a fare

I'm not prepared to get into it, it's all going to be hyperbole and a battle of whataboutery anyway.

the "in" brigade keep banging on that this country has never been out of the EU,
now while i am not old enough to remember, i have been told by a few folk that this country entered into the EU in the '70's when it was known as the common market/EEC, & that this country was doing rather well before we joined.
they say no one will want to trade with us if we leave yet as far as i know we do a lot more trading outside the EU, & that quite a few countries have said they will continue to trade with us if we pull out.
the main issues that make folk want out are immigration & the £11bn we pay in every year.
but the IN mob insist that if we leave there will be 3 million jobs lost, yet i was talking to a mate who works for the DWP & she says yes jobs will be lost but wgat they don't tell you is jobs will be created, the unemployment list will drop to near zero, yet they don't want you to know that.
also the money saved by not paying the EU on a daily basis suerly could go back to sorting the problems this country has had since we joined.
in regards to what we pay them daily what exactly do we get in return??
in that respect my vote is.............................................OUT.

it was sold as a common market, free movement of trade & peoples, not a case of what they say goes & being ruled by hitler with tits & a bad haircutbab-91 wrote:I'm not prepared to get into it, it's all going to be hyperbole and a battle of whataboutery anyway.

In my opinion the only reason most politicians want to stay is because theres a good chance of a nice cushy job for them in the EU parliament when they retire, jobs for the boys big style.
That one eyed drop jawed yes-man cunt had no right signing us up for it in the first place!
We are better off out, once we are it wouldn't surprise me if more countries followed

I voted to stay. I am looking at it from a purely economical point of view. Markets dislike uncertainty and we are in for a rocky few months. A leave vote will see even more uncertainty, with foreign money flowing out, causing further destabilisation (a self fulfilling prophecy in a way). If we had a booming economy and we weren't post recession, I would probably say leave. But that's not the case.
From a personal point of view though, I am happy enough that you leave. The word in the fund world over here is it could be a good thing for Jersey as we will stand to act as an even more attractive conduit for european investment.

As a racist coooont against immigrants etc I should vote Out but I think the next 20 years without Europe will be worse than with!
I will be voting out as its a risk worth taking, can't see us escaping easily though!

my biggest issues are
ECHR
Benefits access
Red Tape for free trade
Brussels Directives
I'm happy with free movement and visa waivers but thankfully we are not a Schengen state.
The UK is strong enough to go it alone with some "special" arrangements. Lets look at this way, will Germany (should we leave) be daft enough to impose a duty/tax on our imports ? we would do the same and that would possibly damage imposts of VW BMW & MB and we are their largest buyer in Europe by some margin. Free trade will remain if we go it alone.
The biggest issue which tempt it bluntly fucks of the British is how the ECHR overrules our courts. And benefits, but the benefits system in gerbil is a shambles

The markets will hyperventilate, over-react, go topsy-turvy for a few weeks then settle back to normality. Notional billions will be gained and lost and in the end it'll all settle back pretty much where it was.ross_jsy wrote:I voted to stay. I am looking at it from a purely economical point of view. The funds world, and all of what you could call high finance, are living on borrowed time. They have vastly over-reached themselves and it'll all end in tears. Well, tears for the vultures, but cheers for everyone else...
