Just picked it up for the wife to use until her new car is delivered as I've already sold hers. (Extra money I got for selling now rather than trading in paid for this 540i)
What a cracking car! I've had m52 powered one on a 1999 plate but his is a world away from that, and for new fridge freezer money!

Out of the future sale of my current car, I'm hoping to fund the bodywork repairs for the E30 and buy another car.

I bought the other car a couple of weeks ago - an E39 530d. Its re-mapped (don't know what to) and has a cat delete. It goes like stink and currently showing 37 mpg around the doors - sorry :D

Visually its got an M5 front bumper and mirrors and an AC Schnitzer rear window spoiler. Also the same wheels as your - M parallels. All black interior with heated leather sports seats.

First E39 I've owned and I'm beginning to wonder why....

A nice 540i is hard to find, but a good one is certainly a cracking car if you can stump the consumption.

I'm running a 530i sport as a daily and I absolutley love it, and TBH I can't think of another BMW id want as a daily drive.

^^^^^ooh, face lift Alpina splitter! Did you buy it yourself? only seen one on eBay from Poland. Would like one plus some drop for the comedy suspension. Mine corners quite well on the 18"s but leans quite a bit. Also quite fancy doing the rear silencer delete.

I enjoy the E39 group on fb, it's a bit like what this place was years ago.

I'll get some photos of mine posted later

Only the very best E30 owners daily dog! the e39 540i :D
Honestly though, when the wife's new TT arrives in April I'm not sure I will be able to let this go! The V8 is like a drug, even just lazily cruising around is a treat that you don't get from a 6'er. I've been looking at the b10's but are the worth the 6x the price? To me prob not! Plus it would mean the e30 would have to go. Again.

Also without checking the bill of sale, what is the option I have which splits the seat back half way so it can be adjusted by a separate switch? I've not seen it before (I'm hardly a guru thougha˜‚)

You can see the seat back in the pick

They are 'comfort' seats. A rare and pricey option in a 5 when new. Shame the person who ticked the box was colour blind. few things in life are as grim as a grey interior , especially in a silver car :(

I think they are called 'comfort' seats, same as what I have in mine now, full electric adjust, heated and active functions

Each to there own indeed! :D :D wouldn't have been my choice! I was just glad it didn't have the walnut inserts!

The E39 Sport touring really is a pretty thing. There are not many better looking 'estates.' Perhaps a 159.

Some prices are quite reasonable compared to e30s - particularly leather interiors at around the £150 mark including door cards.

There is a pair of black leather comforts going for £400 though on the FB group...

My car has S-EDC, can I still use a set of lowering springs as normal? I can't see why not but thought it worth an ask

I struggled to sell a sport black leather electric e39 saloon interior for £200.

Copied Danthe's single silencer delete. Little bit more rumble at low revs but still silent at idle. It's all good but expected it to make a bit more din if I'm honest :D
