A nice man has made me a new gear shifter :D
Very similar to the AKG shifters but half the price!

Image

There are 2 more of these available if anybody is interested, they've been assembled and fitted, only one has been used for a few hours racing in the E36, the other has just sat in the E30, price is £150 each with a choice of gear knobs as pictured, aluminium or white delrin also.

Last track day of the year was Anglesey on the 29th Nov, another great day and the gear change is fantastic to say the least! No pics of the day unfortunately.
Nothing has happened over the winter due to being so busy with work but I will be next out at Oulton on the 12th March.
May have a change of diff ratio before if I get time but not much else will be happening until after the 12th

Couple of pics on the Javelin site I found, you need to click the links

4 of us went for the day

All over my mate in his E36 Compact, I did get past it :)

And this is the one I didn't get past, I wired up an S54 engine and the E46 M3 ABS/DSC a month or so previous. Made 394hp with a few subtle mods :D

You say that, I took the wrong tyres to Anglesey (only one set of wheels at the moment) as it had forecast rain all day, it rained all the way there and all the way back, track time though there was not a drop, 80mph winds had the track dry all day so lack of grip = lots of skidzzz :D

Anglesey is truly *EPIC* :thumb:

It's worth the drive and the Marshalls have a pretty relaxed view on hanging the arse out so long as you are in control...

Great track to spectate at too! Plus, the locals are also loons

Surprised there were no blue flags for the Leon.

An accident waiting to happen there, when he comes across someone of the same mind set.

So I got it run up to temp properly at about 3.30pm this afternoon, everything seemed ok so I gave Javelin trackways a ring to see if I could squeeze in on their Donington Park evening, arrived just in time and had a great few hours on the track, handling didn't seem too different at all TBH, a bit more roll on the front but otherwise just fine :D

coming up towards 8 o clock the steering wheel started shaking a bit and got worse, especially at speed, so I checked a few things over and eventually spun the wheel to check the tyre and found this

Yes Jim its a lot quicker and TBH feels easier to drive, was hitting 130 down Starkeys which is the slightly longer straight before the start finish straight, probably 120 down the start/finish wasn't really looking at the speedo much! :D

Not updated for a while but after killing the Kumhos I found out they were the soft compound which explains the problem a bit more. So ive bought some Yoko AD08 R for wet/intermediate use and a set of used Dunlop slicks for dry.

Did a local sprint day in August, lots of roll!

Image

So ive now moved the ARB drop links up to the strut to combat the wheel lifting :D

No brackets on the Gaz so I had some collars made and the correct trapezoidal thread machined on the inside, cut a gap, welded some bits on and had them zinc plated. Ive used E39 long droplinks

Image

Image

Had the flywheel friction surface skimmed in an attempt to reduce the paddle clutch judder

Image

Its a bit better but still a PITA at low manoeuvring speeds...

Also did the car club trackday at Donington just over a week ago, dryish morning with light rain which meant I could use the slicks for about an hour but the rain gradually moved in more so had to get the Yokos on, little vid of some M4's being very careful and a 570hp 4 wheel drive 911 twin turbo clearing the way for me :D

The ARB is now working much better, you can see the difference in some of the pics below, im sure ive got another pic of the car with the M52 and 15's coming out of craner with more lean on it than whats showing now

Was at Oulton Park last Tuesday, had a good half day of dry conditions and a great time in general, fantastic track I never get bored of driving!

One of the vids ive downloaded off the gopro, a few laps with a fast Caterham, 1300cc Hayabusa powered 205hp at the wheels, unfortunately one of the rear rose joints broke a few laps after this and the wheel/hub/driveshaft parted company with the car, he said he has been having suspension problems for a while, looked very soft on the back end while following it, lots of front wheel lifting :D

Next jobs with the car will be to sort out the front/rear brake bias, its over braked on the back and im probably just going to fit a proper pedal box now. Also plan to change the rear roll centre, its so twitchy coming out of corners wanting to oversteer constantly, very lairy in the wet, hopefully this will help me go faster round a corner :D

Pedal box is the way to go! Great pedal feel and so easy to get bias where you want it.

Plenty of good underslung ones from the likes of Wilwood & Tilton about if you're worried about going floor mounted. Should be no problem for you to build one into the factory pedal box.
