I fancy having a go at rebuilding my M3 rack , but it seem a special tool is need to fully disassemble which I can't find in the UK.
There's a couple of places in the US that sell but which won't ship to the UK and one that does but wants $80 post.
Does anyone know if it's still available at a dealer here or any places here that sell it I've missed, or anyone have one they've used and don't need and want to sell.

This is the part http://www.zdmak.com/go/PROD/BMW3031

The BMW part number might be 32 1 110
Thanks

$30 tool - $80 post and then into import tax and rip off ParcelForce charges.... Even allowing for BMW UK's inflated price, must be cheaper if available.

Opps, just noticed the unfortunate typo...

It's hard to see in the picture but it looks like a motorbike Spring adjuster tool could work.

Yeah make one is your best bet. It's not really a complex tool.

Its the wrong way, the teeth on the C would need to be a 90 degrees to the C spanner. I don't think you would get onto it properly with a normal C spanner.

Not sure if its wide enough. It needs to sit around the tube of the rack.
Was wondering how much to get it made , but then is it worth the bother ? Probably won't come in much cheaper than getting mugged on the post and import duty and charges.

You could make one of those on your drive with a grinder! The rack is approx 22mm I believe, measure it and buy a crowfoot spanner like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TOPTUL-19mm-3 ... SwX~dWsdZ1

Then just grind it up :)

Possibly easier to just weld two tabs onto a large spanner?
