Finally decided to sell my 2.7

after much thinking and tossing around ive decided to sell it and get some jap wrongness, in the form of most likely an r32 gts-t

plus ive still got the e30 im building in the garage....

nice one mate, the r32 gts-t is a nice, and underrated motor - you can pick them up pretty cheap i think! you don't hear much about them, but they have the 200hp 2litre RB20...

sometimes people substitute the RB25 from the r33 gts-t, that's even better

what made you decide not to go gt-r then? cost? you need a bit of spare change if you're gonna get a skyline!

p.s. how is the insurance? i know all companies group them all as gp 20, or is that not the case any more?

p.p.s. i just got a car again but it's only a banger and i'm thinking of getting a banger with some power instead, after seeing my insurance quotes...

insurance is a killer on the skylines, wish you luck tryna insure one, most of these jap sports car like the skylines or imprezas are expensive to insure, how much you paying at the mo outta interest on the Gug?

have a look at specialist insurers rather than mainstream ones who won't have a clue...i'll see if i can dig up anything from the skyline forum i browse & let you know...

Karan, I can vouch for the fact that imports dent your wallet when it comes to insuring them. I recently aqcuired a SWB Pajero with a wheezy 2.5 diesel engine and an auto box to boot, agreed value of under Ԛ£1500 yet the insurance is over twice what it would be for exactly the same spec Shogun, simply because mine is a jap import! Definitely worth checking out before you buy the motor, sounds like a right beast though, especially with no 4WD wrongness!!

Also consider the fuel economy - a drift session could well be alot more expensive than drifing your E30!

cheers fuel consumption is about same

went and saw r32 today and its a lovely car admittedly lacking specialness of the sport but will be more suited to drift competitions

Karan, for insurance on an import search for a company called Sky Insurance, seen loads of people on the Soarer forums save hundreds by going with these people.

just an afterthought, but aren't S14's pretty much a R32/33 underneath? Obviously differrent power plant, but would it be less to source a UK car and not get crippled for the premium import insurance carries?

My mate who is an insurance broker explained to me why imports cost more to insure than U.K turds.
" Imports cost much more to insure because all them tasteful 'flid' mirrors and foglights cost a fortune to repair if the turd is involved in an accident ".
" The fact that imports are generally owned and driven by undesireables and council types makes them and their owners a higher risk and hence higher premiums."

My 14a was mildly tuned to about 240brake, i was lucky to see 22mpg - even if i didnt boot it!

Lovely car to drive and so easy to get sideways but for the running costs the Touring wins! Lower insurance, and standard UL

you'd be lucky to see 20mpg even on a run from the r32 tbh...most gt-r owners seem to average about 15-18 mpg, i have heard of 22mpg tho if you keep off boost on a long run! that's standard gt-r's too...

went and saw the r32 and it certainly goes like a goodun.... rock hard ride yet not crashy at all.... much more modern car than an e30 but crucuially still fairly light at 1300kgs
