I have been watching this 318is all week as I'd love another having owned a couple in the past.Although it's obvious values are rising for good E30s,i'm a bit bemused at the strength of the bidding on what looks a fairly average car. The scuttle panel looks completely gone, arches look a bit suspect and the interior has seen better days.

The last one I bought was a really lovely car requiring nothing, that was 2010 and it was £1700.I guess I'm just pissed off I'm priced out of the market. :( ,i'll have to look elsewhere for a weekend toy.

The bidding looks very suspicious :D

The boot lid is also rotten by the looks of it, who knows whats under the kit, but at least the 218 hides it well :)

Okay, so how does this work? You let a friend bid the highest price as if the car has been sold. Therefore you have to pay a commission to Ebay.
The car hasn't sold in reality, so some time later you relist it hoping to sell it for a similar or higher price?

Reminds me of the late eighties / early ninties. Someone I know put his Ferrari up for auction and it "sold" for a large sum. In reality it didn't sell. Six months later the same car was put up for auction again and sold for a even higher price. And this time it really sold. So effectively he pushed the price up and in the end sold it for the higher price. All he had to pay was a relatively small commission.

If history repeats itself we might see a fall in prices again (here is hoping).

I remember the 90s bubble bursting, like you say it may happen again.

Its supply and demand. E30's are not going to fall in price. The fewer there are the more they are worth, especially original ones. To me this car looks very original, the kit was on it in that ad. from some years ago, it doesn't look like its been messed about with and has loads of documentation. All this adds value, even if it does need quite a bit of work.

It wont burst, its supply and demand for these cars, in comparison to other cars there are relitavely few good ones left. So the price on them will only go up

Bidders all hidden, don't be surprised if it's not sold.
