Hi,
I have a 325i sport and have owned it for 1.5yrs since I've had the car I've noticed increasing noises of clunking/rubbing noises coming from the rear of the car when turning tightly at low speeds.
First initial thoughts are that it could be diff related/ bushes?
I also have a wurring like noise from the back also at speeds 50mph+ which loudens when I come off the accelerator and slow down. Any idea if these two things could be related and what could be the cause? Any advise appreciated
many thanks in advance
Advise please.. Potential diff/bush issue

Is it vibrating under acceleration? Usually diff starts whining under acceleration and engine braking if it was dry for a long time. Anyway it is hard to tell from your description but the clanging noise could be diff bush, main cross bar bushes or center bearing.
Maybe someone on here had similar thing and clear it for us

Drifting or abuse in the past?
the whurring on decell only is a sign of bad things in the diff, get someone with a 2 post lift that can get it off the ground and take a look with the car in gear at idle, watch the diff outputs for abnormal rotation.
Mine was doing exactly this and it was the cross pin in the diff loose in its carrier, forced into position under load but chattering when unloaded.

Ok thanks both, I'll get looking into the diff in that case.HairyScreech wrote:Drifting or abuse in the past?
