My memory of the e30 was when our milkman use to come and collect his money in our street on a friday night he bought it from Scott Hall Leeds in 1988 BMW accountant owned it first.
When he drove in the street and us kids were playing football you could feel the the deep raw of the engine and exhaust in your chest :D :D what a sound and feeling, i was 14yrs/15 then.
Reg was F443 AWX
I now own that car and it has only covered 64.000 miles, i've got a bit of work to do on it still but a blip on the accelerator pedal takes me back to falling for these cars at that young age.
Theres not many cars today that carry the beautiful but at the same time a mean look and even on tickover of a 325i you new it wasn't to be messed with :shoot1: :shoot1: :shoot1: :shoot1:

Another memory of the E30 was in 1989/90 and me and my school mate use to nip into Leeds after school to do a bit of shopping   , back then you could drive straight up Briggate in the centre of Leeds, i remember a 325i sport silver/grey pulling up outside TOPMAN and Vinny Jones getting out with a tall blonde beauty.
I think i had a dribble over them both. ( car and the blonde )

Now that's a memory!!! He clearly had taste on all levels!! I wonder if the car (and blonde!!) are still about today!! Pity you don't have a "DVLA Woman Checker" - she started off brunette. And has had 7 previous keepers lol :-)

My mate Adrian had an 'A' reg 323i chromie in bronze that he Turbocharged with a kit from Holland, intercooler squeezed behind the right headlamps :) I used to help him out working on it with him, we eventually got it on standard timing with a much smoother transition in to the boost with an American electronic ignition kit that allowed almost infinite adjustment of the timing in X degrees per Xpsi of boost, think it was adjustable in half degree increments of 0.5 -6 degrees retarding per 0.5 -10 psi of boost :)
Before the days of chipping ecu's :D

Along the same vein, not E30 related, but my actual first BMW memory is of seeing a BMW Alpine, no such thing you say, you're right, Alpina would be correct, but I guess at an age in single figures my reading was not perfect. If memory serves me correct it would have been an E21 flavour.

X5 V8 for thrills, CRV for chills, Range Rover P38 V8 for sooooo much aggravation...

not and e30 memory, but my dad bought e21 323i in red with recaro interior, front and rear spoilers with black deep dish revolution wheels when I was about 9 1984/1985 ish.
I had never seen or heard anything like it!
was gutted when he sold it.

Superb!! An Alpine, I love it!! An seeing and remembering an Alpina is no bad memory at all :-) Its funny how at a young age we often misinterpret things :-)

Certainly did, he did have it on a dyno and it was either 178 or 187bhp can't remember which, up against 325s they had the edge off the line torque wise but after that initial 3000rpm it came in to it's own and clawed them back and took off.

Excellent!!! What a car, just sounded so nice - the colour, the burble I'll bet, the performance. Happy Times! :-)
