I am just recommissioning my E30 after a 3 month lay up. I had a few vacuum leaks. Most responded well to a new hose or clamp. The small elbow that has a pipe leading to the brake booster still will not seal well. Can I use some permatex gasket maker to seal it in? I have read this is OK.

M20. Early L jet injection. It also had all the mad smog stuff that was fitted to Scandanavian and Australian beemers. I have removed most of the smog stuff and fitted the later exhaust manifold.

The sealant did the trick. Vacuum leaks sorted. Running better.

I once had a persistent vacuum leak that the garage couldn't find. They were apparently BMW specialists. After some investigation it turned out to be the rocker cover gasket.
Gotta watch these 'specialist' people! :)
