Hi can anyone tell me how much roughly i'd expect to pay for a GOOD condition (but not mint) E30 320I with below average miles and a full bmwsh (if one can be found) Ive got a series1 Escort RS turbo justnow but always fancied a nice E30 on Alpina's
Would have about Ԛ£3500 to spend on one, wonder if i'll be able to part with the Escort

No more than 1500 pounds should get you into a decent 320.
Think about the 325 though for a bit of extra power?

Cheers Dave, the thing is, im 21 and not yet passed my test
i was thinking the 320 as it'd be the 6cylinder engine (better than the 4 im aware?) and wouldnt be too powerfull so come the time i'd have a chance of insuring it
do the 320's come with some sort of sport pack, i.e. the 325I sport bodykit or anything?
Wouldnt mind one with leather, Alpina wheels etc

For 3500 you could buy a 325 Sport...which has the M-TechII bodykit already, might have leather, and if you're REALLY lucky, could have Alpina wheels.
However, there was no 320 with these from the factory, unless they were added as options....except the 320iS which was available in some countries in europe which had M-TechII kit (normally I think) and a 4 pot engine with >190bhp!
I'm 21, but I have had my licence well over four years, so my insurance isn't too bad. You will be paying a high price on a 320, but it is only a bit more for a 325.
You could go for a 318iS which is cheaper to insure, and add all the bits on you want?

Aye 318IS is an option, bit harder to find tho i suppose aswell.
Think im jus pissed with the Escort, doesnt move much and always having to get new parts/fix it even tho its a good car
I dont mind paying a wedge for insurance, as i knew i'd have to pay allot to insure the escort, but obv u gotta think about it sensibly
I saw this one on members E30s page

Something along those lines would be perfect
Just gotta decide if i really want to get one now.
Thanks for your help mate

I've got a 320 as well-it sounds as nice as a 2.5 but isnt as quick!
there isnt actually too much difference in cost for insurance between the 2.0 and 2.5 (maybe a ton or so)
try www.confused.com or www.elephant.co.uk for insurance quotes (stick your olds on the elephant one-it drops way down!)
my 320 cost me Ԛ£300 to buy and Ԛ£150 to get through an mot-so there are bargains out there! Mine has 87k on it and full BMWSH.
Good luck!

I paid 600 notes for a c reg 320i auto, 66k no history, I've 700 having it serviced, alternator, cam belt, etc its perfect to drive now, best car I've ever bought!!!
don't bother with the 318, once you've heard the noise of the 6 cylinders singing in harmony above 4000 rpm you'll never want anything else!

I've got a 320i in showroom condition. Never use it as it's that nice! I was going to let it go for Ԛ£1500 but after hearing other comments about truly mint cars I think I'd be stupid to let it go so cheap. 98,000 miles in red with boot spoiler but no bodykit. The whole car is MINT, including the alloys and the interior. FSH. What's a fair price for it? By the way, I think you guys are harsh on the 320i. I've got a 325i too but the 320i engine sounds better and is certainly fast enough. It's not a rocket like the 325i but it sure as hell isn't slow.

Ԛ£1500 - you would be wrong in the head to let it go for tht IMO - as ive said previously i dunno what the going rates are for E30's but think what you can buy for that price, you'd be dumb not to buy an E30!
