Looking to replenish the bushes on the 318i, where's the best place to get a tool for this - or is there another way? :)

I'm going to have a go at all of them somewhere along the line, i guess a tool would have different kits, or I could make one up like on the wiki, but I don't have any parts to hand so would have to go buy all the odd bits - sorry that's not very helpful, only just got a garage and not much in it :D

Assume you'll be doing a mini overhaul underneath?

If you intend to take the front arms off and rear subframe completely off then you don't need need any special tools. The front arms you may need a vice/press to push bushes into the lollipops, but they knock on the arms relativity easy. Read subframe and trailing arm bushes can easily be fitted with some threaded bar/sockets/washers.

Yeaah, just slowly gathering the bits i need so that when I start and take it off, i can actually finish it, rather than wait for more bits

so no real point in buyign a specific bush pulling took then, they seem fairly expensive for what it is... I'll just find some threaded bar and washers instead - saves me some money and more can go into the E30 :) I'll find someone local with a press/buy a vice for the lollipops as I don't have one

Block of wood and a lump hammer will do these, as long as you're careful to keep the bush square to the lollipop as it goes in.

I might just buy a vice, can't be that expensive and I'm sure it'll come in handy other times :)

I am doing my rear suspension at the moment. I pulled the rear trailing arm bushes with allthread and a deep 30 mm socket.
I borrowed a tool to do the beam bushes, it was very easy to do with this tool. Warm the bush carrier a bit first with a hot air gun.

great, I'll go with that route instead then as it's possible :) I'm guessing the 30mm socket was used instead of the pipe in this image? can I do this with the trailing arm sorta in place (just pulled out of mounting brackets) or does it need to be removed fully?

You'll struggle doing it in place. It's easier to drop the subframe/arms/diff all in one and do it all on the floor.

Yes I used the socket instead of the pipe purely because it is what I had lying around. you could use a standard 30mm socket but you would have to cut the bush in half with an angle grinder when it was half out.
It would probably be easier to do it the pipe way if you can source some in advance.

I have got my axle stands under the sills where the two bolts go through to the bottom cross beam mount.
I removed the bottom mount and bolted the front spreader plate back on to add some strength to the area.

Thanks KW. I believe I've got some sockets lying around that might be suitable I'll check :)

Good to know, I'll gather a few bits that I need before this - the problem of having it as a daily driver, never seem to find time to have it in pieces!
