84th Le Mans 2016 - 18th & 19th June
Moderator: martauto
Wow! This thread has dragged some old faces back!

I think it was the aforementioned 540 that was close with the Aston. We lost ground at 80! doh. So much council activity. All we need is some white lightning (or frog equivalent) from CarreFour.
It's been mentioned between myself and a few mates about going this year. Loading a van up and then a car or two between us.
Think it was 2007 I went, when everyone was getting stuck or couldn't get over that stupid little bridge on the camp-site.

Le Mans is one thing but this is the year of BMW's centenary?Kedge wrote:It's been mentioned between myself and a few mates about going this year. Loading a van up and then a car or two between us.
Where else would you want to go but Bavaria!?
The Internet - It has proven to be worthless, and is nothing but a repository for perverts.

Are there any events on out there to celebrate it? I'd rather buy an R90/R100 and go out there on that than drive the E30 out there though.bab-91 wrote:Le Mans is one thing but this is the year of BMW's centenary?Kedge wrote:It's been mentioned between myself and a few mates about going this year. Look at that inside wheel, the shame. Needed a diff!
Kedge, I remember you burning a Leeds flag, dirty dirty Leeds. The good old times...
I am taking an old man Mondeo Diesel estate, you'll fit right in with a Tranny.

I knew I was with zoners, look at that grip on my sleeping bag! I think that was about 2-4 in the morning at Arnage.
I also forgot the 'fire brigade' turned up to the campsite one year until you posted that photo.

I might be up for this but would probably take the van so I could sleep in it. Fuck humping a tent down on a sports bike.

'88 e30 328i M52 track bint.
I've booked Le Shuttle now.
0550 Thursday the 16th
2120 Sunday the 19th.
£114 which I didn't think was too bad. Apparently they take Tesco vouchers if you are a fan of the blue and white stripes.
You can add passenger detail on just before departure.

No idea Jon, I've not been there before!
It's for the F1 so imagine it'll be ok and I've been much closer to the undesirable areas and they tend to be fine to be fair. The terrorists are not foolish enough to take a dump on their own doorstep, I hope !

Come on old zoners... sign up.
You must all be loaded by now as you don't post on here any more!
I have spent the last couple of hours 'working' whilst looking at google maps of how things have changed and to remind myself how to get 'in' the circuit as a track no longer re-opens on non race days

I've never been so one to cross off the list
I've never been so one to cross off the list
My plan is something like as follows (can you tell its a slow day at the office);
Thursday:
0200: Leave Salisbury
0550: Catch LeShuttle
0730: Leave Calais
1100: Arrive at Beausejour campsite and pitch tent
1230: Go to Carrefore and get beers
1500: Find TV to watch England v Wales whilst drinking above beers
1900: Watch Qualifying, including the naughty bits through the forest in the night session.
Friday:
Awake hungover
1000: Drive to St Saturnin for the 'Great British Welcome'
1200: Carrefore for more beers, avoid MadFriday if possible...
1300: Pit walk
1600: Tram to town centre for drivers parade
Night: Beers in town watching football
0100: Last tram 'home'
Saturday:
Watch some 24 hour race that is on?
afternoon/evening: Watch some football matches at the campsite
Sunday:
0100: Watch at Arnage and new Indianapolis viewing area (Arnage at night is a MUST SEE!)
0300: Sleep
1000: Pack car
1100: Move car and watch at east of circuit (Mulsanne)
1430: Leave Le mans 30 minutes before end of race avoiding all traffic (hopefully).
2120: Catch train home.
0000: Arrive home ready for work the next day.
That is a lot to do, so hopefully I will get half of it done.
Can't wait!!
