Alpina C2 2.7.
Had this problem today, first time!
Car started and idled ok
When I tried to drive off I had interrupted - rough running from about 1000-1500 revs and that was it, removing my foot from pedal and idle is back to normal
I gave one more try but this time I put my foot right down , car roughed to about 2000 rpm and then cleared up, drove for about 20 miles with no problem
Once close to home I slowed down and I got back to max 2000 rpm even with foot full down and very rough running. When I got home FINALLY , I switched engine off and then back on and car run normal
Any ideas or thoughts please
Thanks

Check out the big convoluted air hose, between the AFM/air filter and the throttle body, for cracks and splits. A tear can open up under engine movement, causing an unmetered air leak, then close up when the throttle is lifted off again.
