Had my car for just over a year now so thought it was time to upload some pics. Just taken these for the agreed valuation. Haven't decided on the valuation yet so any thoughts on that welcome.

It is with Elephant, i looked at the specialists but most wouldn't quote me because I'm under 30.

Trade secret: Footman James will give you £15k without quibble.

Not really a trade secret, the lady on the phone told me they wouldn't even need photos or description

Remember to pay the extra £15 for salvage retention

Car looks great also

+1 for Footman James

They also let you add non classic car to the policy if you are a member of the BMW UK club.

Not at the MOT. Last time i had a good look underneath was last year when I had it at my trusted mechanic. I can't claim to be an expert but it all looked good to me and he was surprised and the condition it was in.

It's not perfect but generally very good. A couple of areas need addressing which i'm hoping to do over the winter, but then how many people have E30's that don't need anything! Though i'm very impressed by some of your work Jim.

Okay guys, having got the MOT done earlier in the week, i've been for a few hours drive but can't fall in love with the driving experience.

So I don't really know what to do, i love the car, could sitting around looking at it all day, but after a year of ownership the drive just doesn't live up to expectations.

As it's a tech 1 in pretty good condition, i don't want to start messing around with it, I like its originality. Plus, I like the idea of an engine swap and I don't want to do that to this car.

I see three options -

1) Start playing around with it to make it the way i like
2) Sell it, look for a nice base model and build it to suit me
3) Try and find i car that i love to drive even if I don't love the car as much. I built a Caterham when I was too young to get insured and so we had to sell it, but the few drives I did manage to have were brilliant along with the passenger rides with Dad at the wheel. Again, i've been tempted by another one, but they are pretty expensive and very impractical even for non-daily use :!:

What do you reckon i should do?

yer i'd agree with Adam, it's what i did with the 318i auto I had.

M52 is great, great fun and not too expensive to do also.

Keep the tech 1 as an investment.

I really enjoy working on the tech 1 and seeing little or big improvements. Don't really have the space to fully strip it as I would like though.

Jimbo, do they charge you on the premium for the agreed value?

Awarded - option 2 for me too. Don't spoil what you have with any changes.

I did a couple of jobs on this yesterday for the new owner Chris, replaced the dead steering rack with an E46 rack and fitted a short shifter to take up some slack from the gear changes, its a very nice car considering the age and milage, the paint job is good quality too. I couldn't knock it on much at all to be honest!
